People still talk about the recent Royal Wedding as mounting an exhibition fairy tale wedding dress is open this weekend [Saturday, May 21] Provost Skene in the House, between Broad Street and Grain Mill Lane, Aberdeen.
Every bride would like a princess for a day and what better way to do it to feel inspired by the robes of the royal wedding dress.
the exhibition deals with clothing from local brides who were married by the time some of the most famous royal marriages of the last century, including Queen Elizabeth II, Grace Kelly and Princess Diana.
As a royal wedding was a public event, with the bride as the center, it is not surprising that their designer outfits have been copied and sold in High Street, bridal boutiques across the country.
Instead, however, the trend in most cases, these clothes are elevated Royal existing designs, allowing them more fashionable. Like a dress worn by the mother of Prince William, Princess Diana, Catherine Middleton Sarah Burton Alexander McQueen dress was copied and ready for sale within a few hours there to see on the steps of Westminster Abbey.
Victoria Ward, curator of Aberdeen City Council, said: "It's a beautiful exhibition that looks at wedding fashion at a time when we all still talk about the recent Royal Wedding. "
The exhibition is open until Saturday 30 July 2011
